Somebody hand me my sunglasses. For Dior’s Fall ‘09 haute couture show in Paris, designer John Galliano turned up the color, and I for one loved every second of it. Bubblegum pink Christian Louboutin, foxy fuchsia, lemon and lime, scarlet red, intense orange, and posh purple frocks, suits, and voluminous blouses mingled with wild animal prints and ’50s-style underpinnings. There was a heavy dose of old-school glamour (very Audrey Hepburn in “Charade”), though not without a touch of whimsy, courtesy of extravagant feathered hats and a pale pink bow headpiece that makes Madonna’s Louis Vuitton bunny ears look low-key. And the handbags? Think classic and ladylike – chic framed bags in black croc and cream snakeskin. Please sir, can I have some more?
